Born in Dorset in 1983, I began my violin tuition at an early age firstly with Jean Holt, and later with Alison Kay. I have since studied with Dr Robert Jacoby, Duncan Riddell, Eszter Boda Katona and Gina McCormack, and have participated in lessons and masterclasses during my time at Trinity College of Music, with Vasko Vassilev, Michael Bochmann, Anthony Marwood, and Gordan Nikoliktch. In 2005 I received my Bmus (Hons) degree, and was awarded, the Mehroo and Byram Jeejeebhoy Prize.
I am currently living and working as a freelance violinist in Bournemouth.
I perform as a soloist, chamber musician and orchestral player and was awarded the E M Pearce Prize for instrumental music in 2003. In 2005, after being awarded 2nd prize in the Leonard Smith and Felicity Young Duo competition, I embarked on a series of UK recitals with duo partner, pianist Will Dutta. This culminated in a concert at the Barbican Centre in London with one of Britain’s leading musical partnerships, cellist Alexander Baillie, and pianist James Lisney. I have also appeared as a soloist at Regent Hall, St-Martin-in-the-fields, the Royal Courts of Justice, and many other venues.
Solo concerto performances have included the Mendelssohn violin concerto with the Bournemouth Philharmonic, the Bruch Violin Concerto with St Giles Symphony Orchestra, and concertos by Vivaldi, Mozart and Haydn with the Dorset Chamber orchestra.
I am currently lead the Bravado String Quartet, and have participated in master classes with the Brodsky, Vellinger and Wihan Quartets. Most recent recitals include performances at St Martin-in-the fields, the Jacqueline du Pre Music Building and, as part of a film music project last year, at the Barbican centre in London.
As well as my regular ‘extra’ work with the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, I am frequently invited to play in other UK chamber orchestras, including The London Concert Orchestra, The Virtuosi of London, and the Brandenburg Sinfonia. I led most of the orchestras at Trinity College of Music including the Baroque Orchestra directed by Andrew Manze, as well as setting up the Contemporary Music Ensemble during my time there.
